“By the end of this book you’ll know every position in a rugby team, what each one does, and that there’s a place for you.”
What your player learns
By the end of the book, your player can:
- Name the two groups, forwards (1–8) and backs (9–15), and say what each mainly does
- Name the forward positions (props, hooker, locks, flankers, number 8) and one job each
- Name the back positions (scrum-half, fly-half, centres, wings, fullback) and one job each
- Explain that every player catches, passes, supports and defends, and that players of every shape and size play everywhere
- Say that junior teams are often smaller and that juniors try many positions
